Last updated May 1, 2026

CoverIQ is a small indie tool built and run by Dylan Kline. This page is in plain English so you can actually read it.

What we collect

  • Your email address, only if you choose to subscribe to the weekly newsletter.
  • The page you signed up from (e.g., "homepage"), so we can understand which surfaces work and which don't.
  • Anonymous traffic and feature usage via Vercel Analytics — page views, approximate region, and which buttons you click (e.g., "Reveal today's pick," "Share," "I covered this"). We never record what you type or who you are. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no IP addresses retained.

We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment information, location data, voice recordings, or anything else. The personalize-for-my-voice flow runs entirely in your browser and on our backend within a single request — no profile data is stored.

How we use what we collect

  • Email — to send you the weekly newsletter and occasional product updates. Nothing else.
  • Signup source — to inform product decisions (e.g., "should we add a signup form to the results page?").
  • Traffic and feature usage — to know whether the site is working, which pages people use, and which features are worth keeping or improving.

We never sell, rent, or share your email with anyone. Period.

Third-party services

We use a few trusted services to run the site:

  • Loops — sends the weekly newsletter and stores your email + signup source. See Loops' privacy policy.
  • Vercel — hosts coveriq.app and provides anonymous traffic analytics. See Vercel's privacy policy.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — generates the song reasoning shown on the homepage and the personalized briefs. Voice profile text you submit for personalization is sent to Claude for that single request and is not retained.

Voice test

The voice test (at /voice-test) asks for microphone access so you can hum your lowest and highest comfortable notes. The audio is processed entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API — we never receive it, never store it, and there is no upload step in our code.

What does reach our backend: just two numbers — the detected pitches in Hz (e.g., 131 and 392) — which we send to Claude to generate your coaching summary, then discard. No audio fingerprint, no recording, no identity.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it, you're out — no confirmation prompts, no "are you sure," no need to email anyone. We delete unsubscribed addresses from our list periodically.

Cookies

We don't set cookies. The site works without them. Vercel Analytics is privacy-friendly and cookieless by design.

Changes

If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we'll send a notice in the weekly newsletter before it takes effect. Minor fixes (typos, clarifying language) won't be announced.
